From Rape! Rape! Rape! To Rise! Rise! Rise!

From Rape! Rape! Rape! To Rise! Rise! Rise!
I hear about the rape event in Delhi and sit confused deciding who was really raped on that day. Was it the poor and innocent girl or were all the Indians and humanity as a whole raped over and over and over again.

What is justice? Did the second rapist wait after the first had finished or did he spare the girl a few minutes before he made his final attempt of insanity: with the metal rod ? If 6 persons were not waiting to think about their actions then why is a country of 115 billion waiting even a second to hear a sentence announced upon them?

I thank God that the criminals were not rich or that would have bought them enough time to make the Indians forget.

"FORGET" is the word.

Who was it claiming the greatness of the Indian people ? Who was it claiming the intelligence of Indian people? Why were we told in schools about Indians proving their intelligence by working in organisations like NASA ? Because these are the same people who forgot what happened in the boundaries of their own land, in times when their own sisters are walking out unsafe and exposed to monsters waiting to hunt at every moment.

The officials on top positions are waiting for us to FORGET and they will slowly or never decide a ‘fair’ punishment for such monsters[not restricting to Delhi case]. I say if there is no law to punish them enough, then it is time to create one which will scare the very soul out of anyone out there who even dares to think of doing something similar again.

I don’t understand where the leaders are now? Where are all the “I will not eat till I get this bill passed” people. If those who already are cannot do it then where are those who would like to steer this country on a better course? What is stopping us? Are we waiting for the day when our sisters, our daughters, our mothers, our friends and our loved ones will be raped? Raped because they were outside the safety of their home buying vegetables for dinner or studying to accomplish the dreams of their parents and to make way for a better future.

What about the students? What kind of a student and a person we would become if we pass out knowing that a student just like us, with dreams like us, with difficulties like us, with exams like us and with books like us was raped and killed and you had done nothing about it. This is not the country of Mahatma Gandhi, it has changed since crimes like this occur on a daily basis and go unnoticed. There is nothing great about this country and its people if it cannot take care of its own women. There is nothing sacred about our rights and our laws if they cannot be enforced to stop the devil from raping the people again and again.

No, a girl was not raped and murdered, the country and every girl in this country was being raped. Every man who sits and only reads about this news and takes no effort to raise his voice was raped. Every husband’s wife, every father’s daughter and every brother’s sister was raped. And they will continue to be raped until people responsible for letting this happen and monsters carrying out the task are let to breathe beneath the same roof as ours. When you walk out of that door of yours and step onto the Indian soil don’t be deceived into thinking-even for a second-that a crime like this had not occurred on the very same soil beneath your feet and be assured that something like it will happen again, unless.

Stretch your ears and you shall hear the earth shout out of the horrific crime that was carried out on it and continues to happen every day. Do not be silenced into thinking that someone out there is taking care for the protection of your loved ones because no one really cares.

The truth is that we will forget what has happened while we live. We will not feel the pain unless we are ourselves among the ones affected. The only question is when will we all be affected because it does not seem very far when every home in this country will have a victim of such a crime. And I doubt if actions sufficient will be carried out even then, for what respect will we have for our own when we cannot respect and save the sisters of our own others.

We are in debt to this girl for not being able to save her. We are in great debt to all those girls who are victims of such events. And I am afraid of dying in debt to all those people who have suffered due to weakness of the system that works in this country.

I will not let the world forget what has happened or at least I will help the world recall something that it has already started to forget. I assure the people that only years have changed and neither the system nor the monsters have been affected by it in anyway. The only difference of the next rape will be the difference of date. The least I can do and you can do is Remind the people that justice is awaited, not only for this case but for all such cases [uber].

Rise! My friends: remind the people and those in power that we will not forget and we will continue to raise our voice until every girl in this country can walk out without fear in her heart. We will not close our eyes because it is yet to happen to us. Take it up as your duty to remind the people that no one is safe in this country and we are in need of laws that will shake the very foundation of evil and demolish its hold.

And if you FORGET, those who are in power and can make a change will forget and justice will be denied. If that happens then remember this- you were raped and you were killed along with that brave girl on that day and girls alike who suffer time and again. The only difference is that she had no choice and you do, she has passed away as a martyr and a brave person while you would as a coward. UNLESS.

Rise! Rise! Rise!
